LATEST EPISODE: 23rd November 2025:
Old Norse and Jackson Crawford
‘Hi, I’m Old Norse specialist Dr. Jackson Crawford’ – so begin the YouTube videos with the smooth-talking, stetson-wearing scholar, discussing ancient languages in the scenic Rocky Mountains. To pay Jackson back for having me on his channel three times (most recently here), I gladly hosted him on ALILI. Hence, this forty-second episode is all about Old Norse – what it is, who spoke it, where it came from, and what it became.

I’ve been listening to ALILI for a while now and even though I haven’t yet made it through all episodes, it’s safe to say that I’ve been loving every second of it. I’m not a huge podcast listener at all – ALILI is the only podcast I’ve ever genuinely enjoyed! I’ve been sharing it on multiple platforms hoping to pass on the linguistic joy you spread to other like-minded people. I would also like to use this comment section to humbly ask for an episode on Qazaq – that would be awesome. No pressure though! I would gladly listen to any episode about any language. Thank you so much for allowing me to learn so much through this podcast.
Best wishes from Hesse, Germany

Thank you so, so much for supporting the show, and for letting me know! It’s comments like yours that keep me making it, and that’s a great suggestion. Many, many thanks.

Hello! I’ve been listening to this podcast since December and I’ve made it through almost every episode! I really enjoy it, thank you. I can’t wait to hear about a Turkic language, or the language that I love most — Mongolian. Cheers

I highly recommend if you are interested in doing a Mongolian episode, that you might consider interviewing Khatantuul Baatarsukh (author of the aptly named Mongolian Grammar Textbook)! She’s available on Facebook here https://www.facebook.com/khatantuul.baatarsukh.info
