Prehistoric Syntax and Public Linguistics with Jackson Crawford

A personal bit of news: a return to rambling enthusiastically on YouTube!

I’ve another rare appearance in visual format, as I was delighted to be invited back by Dr Jackson Crawford for a second interview with him and his Patreon supporters. Last time, it was all about etymology; this time, I got to talk very old syntax!

In this nerd-friendly space, I got to wax lyrical about my recently submitted PhD thesis, introducing some of my doctoral project’s main ideas and conclusions. I fielded great questions from Jackson and his very knowledgeable viewers, relating to word-order change, the Indo-European language family, and the experience of doing linguistics online for a general audience.

Since I’m somewhat satisfied with my performance, I thought I’d share it here too. Hope you enjoy!

  1. I watched this last night and was blown away. The discussion was both broad and deep and kept me hooked. I’d be very interested to read your PhD thesis, by the way!
